CLINAM 9 / 2016 Conference and Exhibition
European & Global Summit for Cutting-Edge Medicine
June 26 – 29, 2016 • Basel, Switzerland

The Conference at a Glance

In the previous eight years, the CLINAM Summit grew to the largest in its field with 12 presenting Noble Laureates and more than 500 participants from academia, industry, regulatory authorities and policy from over 40 different countries in Europe and worldwide. With this success and broad support by well beyond 20 renowned collaborating initiatives, the CLINAM-Summit is today one of the most important marketplaces for scientific exchange and discussions of regulatory, political and ethical aspects in this field of cutting edge medicine.

In particular, the CLINAM Summit emerged as exquisite forum for translation from bench to bedside, for European and international networking, and for industrial collaboration between companies, with academia, and point-of-contact with customers. The summit is presently the only place to meet the regulatory authorities from all continents to debate the needs of all stakeholders in the field with the legislators.

CLINAM 9/2016 continues with its successful tradition to cover the manifold interdisciplinary fields of Clinical and Targeted Nanomedicine in major and neglected diseases. As special focus area, CLINAM 09/2016 adds translation and enabling technologies, including, for example, cutting-edge molecular profiling, nano-scale analytics, single cell analysis, stem cell technologies, tissue engineering, in and ex vivo systems as well as in vitro substitute systems for efficacy and toxicity testing.

CLINAM 09/2016 covers the entire interdisciplinary spectrum of Nanomedicine and Targeted Medicine from new materials with potential medical applications and enabling technologies over diagnostic and therapeutic translation to clinical applications in infectious, inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as diabetes, cancer and regenerative medicine to societal implications, strategical issues, and regulatory affairs. Apply for the Nanomedicine award 2015

The ETPN and the ENATRANS CSA have launched the second edition of the Nanomedicine Award to honour the best international nanomedicine innovations for 2015. The Award will be presented at the BIO-Europe conference in Munich in November 2015.

We strongly encourage to apply for the nanomedicine Awards 2015 by submitting their projects in both categories!

The application form is available online at nanomedicine-award.com

diamantThe goal of the Award is to promote and reward two excellent innovative nanomedicine-based solutions that could help physicians change the way diseases are treated and diagnosed, bringing significant benefits to patients.

The Award is open to companies as well as academic and private researchers across the globe. Nominated projects should be totally new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches that address unmet medical needs with nanomedicine, and have an explicit and defined potential market.

Nanomedicine proposals will be evaluated in two categories:
• Award for Best early clinical stage project
• Award for Best product or deal

Applications will be reviewed and assessed by a panel of highly-qualified industry experts with experience in R&D and business roles:
– Patrick Boisseau, Business Development Nanomedicine at CEA-Leti and President of the ETPN
– Patrick Tricoli, VP Corporate Development and CEO Nanobiotix Corp.
– Jeff Hrkach, formerly Chief Technology Officer of BIND Therapeutics, Inc. and member of the Nanomedicines Alliance
– Henry Havel, formerly Senior Research Fellow at Eli Lilly and Chairman of the Nanomedicines Alliance

The Award is supported by the EBD Group, the leading partnering firm for the global life science industry, the Nanomedicines Alliance, the US-based consortium dedicated to promoting and facilitating the scientific advancement, regulatory approval, and public appreciation of nanotechnology-based medicines and Nanobiotix, a late clinical-stage nanomedicine company pioneering novel approaches for the local treatment of cancer.

The Award ceremony will take place during BIO-Europe 2015 in Munich (Germany) on the 3rd November 2015.

Winners will benefit from a full registration (including partnering) for BIO-Europe 2015 and a 10 minutes project presentation during the Conference. The winning projects will also be granted with a presentation during the ETPN General Assembly 2016, along with 1 year’s free ETPN membership and a consulting action by the experts from the Translation Advisory Board (TAB). The winners will gain visibility to EU decision makers from pharma industry, academia, finance and media.

Applications for the Award are open until 15th September 2015.The application form is available online at nanomedicine-award.com

We thank Turning Torso Meeting for selecting NanoMed North as one of ten prestigious networks to use the facility free of charge as a part of their ten year anniversary!

NanoMed North was one of the exhibitors at last week’s NanoForum in Stockholm. NanoForum is arranged by SwedNanoTech which is a nanotechnology network for both academia and industry in Sweden.

The “godfather” of nanotechnology; Eric Drexler was one of the keynote speakers and he gave a fascinating talk about advanced productive nanosystems. These nanosystems (nanoscale machinery) will according to Drexler have a large impact on for example life science industry in the future. If you want to know more about Eric Drexler´s work go to e-drexler.com.
“The Nanotechnology company of the yearaward” was presented at NanoForum. The award is handed out to a young, innovative Swedish nanotechnology company. This year’s nominees were: Cline Scientific, Exeger, Insplorin, Nanexa and Promimic. The award went to Exeger for their Dye-sensitized solar cells.

We had a lot of visitors at the NanoMed North stand and we give a warm welcome to our new members that signed up at NanoForum.

NMN-sthlmHanna Toftevall from GeccoDots. One of NanoMed North’s new members. GeccoDots is a nanotechnology company that work with multimodal contrast agents and biomarkers for medical imaging.

Niklas Holmquist, vice president of Cline Scientific, one of the nominated companies for the “Nanotechnology company of the year – award”. Cline Scientific are providing gradient surface technology to life science applications.

The CLINAM-Foundation and its collaborators for the conference have the pleasure to announce the European Summit for Clinical Nanomedicine and Targeted Medicine in Basel.

“The meeting has become a worldwide interdisciplinary Nanomedicine platform with 520 participants from 42 countries joining the last Summit in 2014. Its major goal is the support of development and application of Nanomedicine and Targeted Medicine to the benefit of the patient and humankind. The CLINAM Summit has achieved a unique position in bringing together all stakeholders relevant to the field of Nanomedicine and Targeted Medicine, including regulatory authorities from all continents, clinicians, researchers and industrial innovators from this area.” (CLINAM, European Foundation for Clinical Nanomedicine)
